Your body language shapes who you are

I spent 21 minutes and 3 seconds listening to this fascinating Ted talk about what our body language says to ourselves.  Sure, we hear about what our body language says to others and what their non-verbal communication says to us.  But have you ever stopped to think about what you are actually saying to yourself through your stance, posture and movement?

As soon as this Ted Talk was over, I wanted to listen to it again.  So, I did.

If you happen to have 21 extra minutes – use those minutes to listen to this talk.  It may very well have an impact on your chances for success.

“Body Language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves.  Social psychologist Amy Cuddy show how “power posing” – standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident – can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.  Amy Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions – and even our own body chemistry – simply by changing body positions.”  (TED Talks)
