Don’t Worry, Be Happy – Part II
Yesterday’s blog - Focus on things in your control and don’t worry about the things that are out of your control.
Kim Giles* believes “Doubt, fear and worry are not motivating. They sap your energy, leaving you less able to deal with real problems when they actually happen.”
Kim says, “Focus on being present, and you are always OK.”
Last week, on several occasions, I felt overwhelmed with my self-made ”To Do” list. The list seemed long. I didn’t feel smart enough to tackle some of the items on the list. I wasn’t even sure I wanted to tackle all of the things on the list.
I called a friend. “Do you ever feel that way?” I asked, looking to draw advice from her deep well of wisdom.
“Of course I do! I felt that way this morning!”
Okay. Good. If she feels overwhelmed at times and can still accomplish all the amazing challenges and opportunities life puts in front of her, then I can too.
She went on to share this shiney, golden nugget of wisdom…”Just do one thing at a time. Don’t look at the whole list. Don’t look at the week or month ahead – just focus on today. One thing at a time. It won’t seem nearly as overwhelming if you approach things that way.”
I can do that.
With a renewed sense of empowerment, I carried on, addressing the concerns of that day.
“No man ever sank uner the burden of the day. It is when tomorrow’s burden is added to the burden of today that the weight is more than a man can bear.”
~ George Macdonald
We can and will realize our dreams.
We will accomplish our lists of “To Do’s.”
…and we’ll do it ONE DAY AT A TIME.
Think. Click. Be…
worry free.
